Newborn Photography for New Parents: How to Choose the Right Photographer

Welcoming a newborn into your family is a momentous occasion, and capturing these early days through photography can create lasting memories. However, choosing the right photographer for your newborn can be a daunting task. Here are some key points to consider to ensure you make the best choice for your family.

1. Price

Budget is often a significant factor when selecting a photographer. Newborn photography can vary widely in price, depending on the photographer's experience, location, and the services offered. It's essential to understand what is included in the price:

Deposit Required: I require a deposit of £50 to secure your booking slot, which is taken off the remaining balance.
Prints and Products: Prints are included in all packages except for mini sessions. Additional prints and products can be ordered after the session if wanted.

2. Safety

The safety of your newborn should be the top priority during a photography session. Here are some safety aspects to consider:

Experience: I have over 12 years experience and continue to elevate my knowledge, in person and on-line. I also keep my baby first-aid up-to-date.
Studio Environment: The studio, props and accssories are all santitised/washed after each session. The sudio is cleaned at the end and before each session daily.
Posing: Your babys comfort and safety is paramount, I will only ever use safe poses and listen when baby does not want to get into a certain position.

3. What’s Included

Understanding what is included in your photography package can help you make an informed decision. Here are some common inclusions:

Session Duration: Newborn sessions can last up to 3 hours to accommodate feeding, changing, and soothing the baby.
Props and Outfits: All props/outfits/wraps/hats etc are provided for baby in the session. If there is something specific you'd like to incorporate from home just let me know and I can usually add somewhere in the session.
Number of Images: In my newborn session you can choose 15 digitals (the prints you select must be of the same 15). You can also add additional digitals and or prints to your order as desired.
Tailored Sessions: My sessions are tailored to your needs, including any specific colors or props you want to reflect your families taste.

4. Photography Style

Every photographer has a unique style, and it's essential to choose one that resonates with you. Here are some styles to consider:

Studio: I do my newborn sessions as studio sessions with the use of props and backdrops. I have complete control of the lighting and can ensure the temperature is warm for baby to be comfortable and sleepy.

Although choosing the right newborn photographer involves considering several factors, including price, safety, what’s included in the package, and the photographer’s style. It is important that you can balance all these factors out and feel comfortable with your photographer. My main aim is to ensure a positive experience is had by all and beautiful images that you will cherish for a lifetime are the outcome.
